Having someone call me...
Cheater or fat; I'd rather be fat.
Liar or fat; I'd rather be fat.
Ignorant or fat; I'd rather be fat.
Arrogant or fat; I'd rather be fat.
Hurtful or fat; I'd rather be fat.
Hateful or fat; I'd rather be fat.
Slut or fat; I'd rather be fat.
Dishonest or fat; I'd rather be fat.
It's not often I get hate comments. But I see other people get them all the time. One thing that separates me from other people, is I don't give negative comments power over me. I am fine laughing at myself, admitting my short-comings, and taking blame when I need to. But I get mad when I here people say I'm fat. Not because it hurts me, but because it's not the worst thing to be.
Fat does not equal unhealthy. Fat does not equal heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, filth, uncleanliness, or unhygienic. Fat does not equal uneducated. Fat does not equal poor. Fat does not equal ugly. I'd rather be fat than be a cheater. I'd rather be fat than be a liar. I'd rather be fat than greedy, abusive, and unappreciative. Fat doesn't mean I'm not happy, confident, and kind.
I am worth more than the number on my scale, and the size of my pants. I'm beautiful if I'm fat. I'm beautiful if I'm thin.
Fat doesn't mean I'm easy. Fat doesn't mean I'm alone. I'd rather be fat than make a judgement like that. I'd rather be fat than unhealthy. I'd rather be fat than selfish. If the only bad thing you ever have to say about me is that I'm fat...
I'm okay with that.
One of the aspects of fashion that I love the most is that it's an ever changing industry. But, along with that, comes a rather fearful side- fashion changes.
There are some people who never follow trend. I know people who are wearing the same type of outfit today that they wore in the 80's. Then, there are some people who semi follow trend. They dress casually, but nothing special.
And lastly, we have the people who are so on trend, that they're the ones we want to follow. Insert Picture of Kendall Jenner:
If we could all be those tumblr girls that invent fashion, life would be perfect. But, we're not all them. So, here are some simple ways to revamp your style:
1. Seek Inspiration
We all know that the world of Pinterest is a vast landscape of perfect dorm rooms, weddings, diy's and crafts. BUT, Pinterest is also a fashionista's stomping grounds? There are also sites just like Pinterest where you can get all the latest trends sent right to you. Just look at The Hunt. Let's get a round of applause.
2. Be Inspiration
Oh, so you like to rock feisty hair color, or a flirty outfit. THAN GIRL, YOU ROCK THAT LOOK. The first step to creating a trend is being confident in a look. If you're trying to bridge the gap between your style and the people around you, than choose your trademark, and flaunt it. I know one trend that is still growing is the half shaved head look as shown below:
As much as I *hate* this look, I will have to say, it took someone getting that idea in their head for it to become a trend. I'm going to be honest here- this is one of those looks that just gets under my skin. Not very many people can pull this look off. It takes a special person to do this look justice, and I've never personally seen one. BUT, I will say that if you're into this, it's a nice, non permanent way to make a statement.
3. "Steal" Ideas
Okay, at first glance, this seems like horrible advice. BUT, hear me out. What is the first thing people do when they see a trend? They claim their 15 seconds of fame. Whether it's an internet trend, fashion trend, or all out weird trend, people always want in on the action. So, maybe next time you notice something up and coming, jump in on it. After all, you want to drive the train, not just ride it, right?
