Hating a summer trend? WHAAAT? Am I insane? ....Okay, don't answer that. BUT, believe it or not, there are major trends that this girl despises. Most people go with the flow, taking in whatever trend they meet. Me, I swim up stream. I usually spot trends from a mile away, and I'm pretty quick to decide if it's something I dig or not. Lately, the answer has been NOT. But, I can appreciate someone who rocks the trend, no matter how much I hate it. Here are just a few of the examples:
One trend that is rising fast is 'unnaturally coloured hair.' This trend has been seen on stars like Katy Perry,Nicki Minaj, and Kelly Osbourne or years, and now everyone is joining in. It's a trend I can't get the taste for. Purples, greens, pinks, they all take so much time to manage if you want it looking right. If you don't, your hair will look lifeless and nasty.
Recently, Kylie Jenner went a blue hue that I can learn to like. Homegirl here rocks this look. The color suits her attitude so well- hardcore, but subtle. I have to say, out of all the stars picking up this trend, it's nice to see Ky taking this and running with it. Coming from one of the most iconic families in Hollywood, she's changing the term 'chic.' Even with blue hair, this girl knows how to rock it.
Two words: Bermuda. Shorts. This is one of those trends that people pick up every year and some wish they would just disappear. I understand that there is some tourist out there who is dying of heat stroke in Hollywood and bermudas are the life-line they need. But that life-line is killing me.
The one person I know who can take a pair of bermudas and make them look fab, is Portia De Rossi, bc perfection. Portia's color combo with this outfit completely masks the fact that she's even wearing bermudas. Her earth-toned pallet works great with her skin tone, too. Portia makes this outfit look fun, feminine, and comfortable all while looking effortless. She's really turned this look around.
Just gonna leave this here:
There are very few people that can pull off a pleated skirt. Pleats, if worn the wrong way, can make someone appear to be larger than they really are. I am no exception to this. And so, so so many people fall victim to the pleat. Yet, there are some people who rise above, making a pleated skirt look flawless.
Adriana Lima's outfit is so on point. Her accessories really bring the skirt to life without looking too busy. Her red leather blazer pairs perfectly with the green leaves on her white pleated skirt. The blue belt brings it all together. The outfit looks finished and chic for a day out on the town. Her white shirt and nude shoes are toned down, which gives the entire outfit a balanced feel. This summer trend is one I can learn to love if everyone pulls it off just as well as Adriana does.
